ArcFM users gather to support NW-TMMUG kick-off
Fort Collins, CO -- May 16, 2008 -- The first Northwest Telvent Miner & Miner Users Group (NW-TMMUG) was held near TM&M’s newly opened Vancouver, Washington office to discuss the guidelines and responsibilities of the ArcFM™ users group. The newly organized forum was initiated by several utilities who sought to provide a venue for discussing issues specifically related to regional users of the ArcFM enterprise GIS solution.
Telvent Miner & Miner currently has 14 northwest utilities leveraging the technology, representing over 400 seats of ArcFM in use. Attending the conference were 20 members of the northwest user community representing 12 utilities and ESRI. The day-long event, hosted by TM&M, provided an opportunity for users to meet and share experiences related to their respective GIS projects.
“We have a large contingent in the northwest with unprecedented adoption of the ArcFM Solution. NW-TMMUG is a great opportunity for utilities in the northwest to network with people deploying ArcFM technology, to share ideas, and to drive Telvent technology at a regional level,” said Lane Powell, Telvent Miner & Miner’s Manager of Domestic Sales.
This annual forum will allow for a very close-knit group of users to share knowledge and first-hand experiences, as well as provide input into the future product direction. The next NW-TMMUG will be held November 3 - 4, 2008, hosted by Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) in Oregon.
“The Northwest has recently experienced phenomenal growth in the use of ESRI and Telvent Miner & Miner applications as utilities enhance management of their electric, water, gas, and fiber optic infrastructure. Since the utilities in this region already have close relationships in many other areas, and due to the high number of system implementations currently in development, it just seems like the right time for this user community to emerge in order to share lessons learned and implementation experiences, as well as to gather new and effective ways to use the technology. We look forward to working as a unified group with Telvent Miner & Miner and ESRI to make our regional implementations more productive and ultimately successful,” said Chris Folta, Benton PUD’s Manager of GIS and president of NW-TMMUG 2008.
