MATISA chooses think3 to Enhance PLM

The Swiss company has implemented think3’s CAD and PLM solutions to optimize its design and product development processes

Milan, July 23, 2008 – MATISA, a global leader in design and manufacturing of track construction and maintenance machines, has chosen think3’s CAD and PLM solutions to optimize its product development processess by sharing information across departments while reducing time to market and increasing productivity.
The implementation cutting edge CAD and PLM solutions by think3, the only supplier to offer technology solutions that combine product concept, engineering and tooling environments, has allowed MATISA to optimize product-related document management (texts, drawings, charts, etc.) while creating a single shared database that enables a quick and accurate access to product information.
The implementation of ThinkDesign has enabled Matisa to extend 3D design across all company departments, while thinkteam has allowed the company to effectively share product-related data. Advantages include improved interaction across different departments and enhanced productivity, increased standardization and reduced low value added activities, which has enabled MATISA to maintain its European leadership and enhance its presence in Japan as well as in new strategic markets (Brazil, Russia, China and India).
“Choosing think3 has proved to be a success” said Rémy Charrette, head of Design Department and Coordination Servicing at MATISA. “The solutions were implemented quickly and generated remarkable results in terms of optimization of our product development processes”.
Matisa adopted the following solutions:
•ThinkDesign Engineering– created for mechanical engineering, it addresses flexibility and productivity requirements typical of manufacturing companies, all in an easy to use product.
•        ThinkDesign Viewer – available with ThinkDesign and specifically designed for viewing operations, it allows users to view, enlarge and measure the content of a host of file types (think3, DWG, DXF, STEP, VDA and STL). MATISA implemented this tool to consult shared documents faster and more accurately.
•        Renderer – a rendering solution integrated in ThinkDesign. It allows designers to create extremely realistic images. MATISA adopted Renderer and two product configurators that are still being tested for carriages and overall machine viewing.
•        thinkteam – ideal for the effective management of information related to products subject to ongoing modifications or customizations. It manages any kind of file or information, regardless of its format and original application. All items created with thinkteam are automatically transferred to MATISA’s ERP.
In its production site in Crisser, Switzerland, MATISA currently has subscibed to 60 ThinkDesign Engineering licenses, 53 thinkteam licenses, 2 Renderer licences, 100 ThinkDesign Viewer devices. MATISA has partnered with think3 since 1992.
