The MathWorks Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder Certified by TUV SUD Automotive GMBH

NATICK, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—August 12, 2008— The MathWorks today announced that its Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder product for MathWorks Release 2008a was certified by TÜV SÜD Automotive GmbH.

According to the certificate report from TÜV, The MathWorks development organization responsible for developing the Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder has been audited to assess its development and quality assurance procedures. This assessment focused on the software modification process, customer bug reporting, and fitness for purpose for safety-related development according to IEC 61508.

TÜV then granted the certificate based upon a workflow for typical automotive applications that addresses Application-Specific Verification and Validation of Models and Generated Code. This workflow describes how Model-Based Design can be used for applications that need to comply with IEC 61508-3.

The TÜV assessment and resulting certificate is an important achievement for The MathWorks and further illustrates our commitment to and support of the automotive industrys production needs, said Andy Grace, vice president of engineering and design automation at The MathWorks.

In June 2008, The MathWorks announced that its Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder product successfully passed the Automotive Code Validation Suite (AVS). AVS provides an independent test suite for validating embedded code generators. According to the report from TÜV Rheinland Industrie Service, ASI, A successful validation using AVS shall be considered as proof of validation to a recognized procedure according to IEC 61508-3:1998, clause 7.4.4.
