ANSYS Added to S&P MidCap 400

SOUTHPOINTE, Pa.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—August 19, 2008— ANSYS, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANSS), a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced that it has been added to the Standard & Poors MidCap 400 Index. The index is a U.S. market capitalization-weighted benchmark index made up of 400 securities with market values between $200 million and $5 billion. ANSYS formerly was listed on the Standard & Poors SmallCap 600 Index.

Due to the growth we have experienced over the last few years along with the additional shares being issued for the recent acquisition of Ansoft, ANSYS is now large enough to meet the MidCap 400 Index thresholds, said Jim Cashman, president and CEO of ANSYS, Inc. It is incredibly exciting to see our company grow in our quest to put engineering simulation tools in the hands of every engineer.

The Standard & Poors MidCap 400 Index is the most widely followed of all U.S. midcap stock market indices. It contains solid firms with good track records and historically has outperformed its larger sibling, the widely quoted S&P 500.
