ESRI to Showcase a Complete Platform for Geospatial Intelligence Workflows at GEOINT Symposium

Redlands, California—October 20, 2008—ESRI will demonstrate the power and flexibility of its ArcGIS software platform to manage geospatial intelligence during the GEOINT 2008 Symposium, October 27–30, 2008, in Nashville, Tennessee.

National security, defense, and intelligence professionals will see how the unique capabilities of geographic information system (GIS) technology integrate and share all elements of the intelligence workflow. The ArcGIS technology platform connects sensors, warfighters, analysts, and decision makers through a shared network of desktops, servers, mobile devices, and data appliances. This geospatially enabled intelligence permits agencies, through netcentric operations, to share data simultaneously throughout a community of interest the moment it becomes available. GIS technology allows agencies to select, fuse, and analyze complex intelligence data through a map-driven interface as they transform GIS knowledge into action.

The  ArcGIS platform's principal software technologies include

ArcGIS Desktop—Authors, analyzes, models, visualizes, and shares geospatial intelligence to support improved and timely decisions. It is a complete toolset for intelligence analysts and GIS specialists who work with geospatial data.

ArcGIS Server—Provides a powerful, GIS-enabled service-oriented architecture (SOA) with the speed, agility, and tools to distribute analytic products and geospatial data over the Intranet. This technology meets the demanding global operational needs of the intelligence community.

ArcGIS Mobile—Brings the power of GIS capabilities to the field. Warfighters can collaborate in real time and share data and analysis when connected, yet the system operates as a stand-alone, independent system when disconnected.

ArcGIS Server Image Extension—This extension manages, processes, and distributes large imagery sets, reducing the time from collection at the sensor to exploitation by the decision maker, analyst, or warfighter.

ESRI will also showcase the Commercial Joint Mapping Tool Kit (CJMTK) Geospatial Appliance (CGA) to the GEOINT community. The CGA, distributed by Northrop Grumman, incorporates ESRI technology and supplies the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Limited Distribution (LIMDIS) datasets and key commercial data in a tactical or rack-mounted server ready for field deployment. The CGA provides worldwide geospatial coverage and contains preconfigured ArcGIS Server software with easy-to-use and ready-to-serve map data that is compatible with a wide-variety of standards-based clients.

The ArcGIS Situational Awareness Bundle provides an appliance option for accessing actionable intelligence during natural or man-made events. This bundle is delivered as a ready-to-operate hardware/software/data solution for developing a common operating picture framework. It includes a powerful data fusion and analysis engine, ESRI server technology for publishing Web map services, and a set of fully customizable clients for viewing data. The bundle also includes terabytes of prerendered nationwide and worldwide street and transportation data, place-names, administrative boundaries, raster imagery, topographic maps, shaded relief imagery, and elevation data. This appliance combines a robust collection of commercial geospatial data for intelligence organizations that require a complete solution in a single appliance. ESRI technical staff will demonstrate both the CGA and the ArcGIS Situational Awareness Bundle.

Stop by ESRI's booth 219 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center to see ESRI's geospatial technology in action. More than 40 ESRI business partners at GEOINT offer ArcGIS software-based applications, solutions, and services for the defense and intelligence communities.

The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation hosts GEOINT, which draws more than 3,000 government, academic, industry, intelligence, and military leaders to Nashville. For more information about ESRI in the defense industry, visit www.esri.com/defense.
