Nobiskrug Signs Agreement to Implement AVEVA Marine

HAMBURG, Germany, October 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AVEVA , the leading supplier of engineering IT systems for the plant and marine industries today announced that the world-renowned Nobiskrug shipyard in Rendsburg, Germany, has recently signed a contract to implement AVEVA Marine at the shipyard.

Nobiskrug shipyard, one of the leading builders of megayachts, has for many years been using production data supplied by subcontractors using AVEVA software but with this latest software purchase now has the opportunity not only to make last minute modifications to data delivered by suppliers but also to actively participate in the development of the structural steel data.

Nobiskrug changed hands in 2008 and is now owned by Eagle River Deutschland GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Eagle River Capital Ltd. based in Guernsey. With 420 employees and an annual turnover in excess of EUR 100M the shipyard specialises in the construction of luxury superyachts from 60-100 metres length, as well as in refits, repairs and conversions. After delivering the megayachts M/Y Tatoosh, M/Y Triple Seven and M/Y Siren, Nobiskrug is today well established amongst the leaders in the marketplace.

Jens Baake, Head of Design Department at Nobiskrug said: "With this purchase of AVEVA Marine software we have greatly increased our flexibility in the handling of design and production data and opened up a number of opportunities that previously did not exist. We see this implementation as just the first step in a much longer process."

Originally founded in 1905 in close proximity to the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal (or the Kiel Canal, then known as the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kanal) the shipyard can reflect on a long and varied history. Early newbuildings were in fact often intended for use on the canal. However by the early 1980's the shipyard had 1,400 employees and was building oceangoing vessels such as ferries and containerships.

It was also around this time that Nobiskrug shipyard became the first German user of Steerbear, a shipbuilding system developed by Kockums shipyard. Steerbear was the forerunner of the Tribon system, now integrated into AVEVA Marine.

Hans van der Drift, Vice President Central and Eastern Europe, AVEVA said:

"AVEVA is very proud to welcome Nobiskrug back into the rapidly growing family of AVEVA users, not only as the newest member of this family but also as our very oldest German customer."
