Baker Signs Contract with TRIRIGA® as Customer and Strategic Partner for TREES™ Real Estate Management/Sustainability System

LAS VEGAS & PITTSBURGH—(BUSINESS WIRE)—December 9, 2008— Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE Alternext US:BKR) is now a TREES™ customer and strategic partner with TRIRIGA®, the leading provider of real estate life cycle management software and developer of TREES (TRIRIGA Real Estate Environmental Sustainability). TREES, launched in April 2008, is the industry’s first and only integrated real estate management/sustainability system to measure, manage and reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from buildings. Baker will apply the system internally to assess its real estate portfolio’s carbon footprint and make strategic real estate decisions, as well as offer services to clients with the goal of improving long-term environmental, social and economic performance.

“In keeping with our purpose statement of ‘creating value by delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for infrastructure and the environment,’ we intend to track, monitor and reduce our carbon footprint and increase sustainability in the work we do for clients through the utilization of the TREES software,” said Brad Mallory, president and chief executive officer, Michael Baker Corporation. “It’s what our employees want; it’s what our clients are asking for in the services we provide; and ultimately, it’s the right thing to do.”

Baker has been an Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS) Strategic Alliance Partner with TRIRIGA since October 2004 and has implemented TRIRIGA’s solutions for a number of federal and educational institutions, as well as publicly held companies. Baker seeks to leverage its experience with TREES and IWMS to offer expertise to clients in federal agencies and departments of transportation through a Sustainability Center of Expertise. Federal agencies in particular need to implement the right tools and infrastructures now to operate in accordance with Executive Order 13423, which requires a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2015. TREES delivers the tools and technology to easily compile, baseline and benchmark environmental performance of real property assets, identify underperforming locations and facilities, and prioritize building retrofits and maintenance projects to comply with the Executive Order.

“Our partnership with Baker will help agencies achieve the mandates of Executive Order 13423 and significantly reduce greenhouse gases,” said George Ahn, president and chief executive officer, TRIRIGA. “Technology that measures, manages and reduces the environmental impact of agencies’ real property assets delivers both environmental and financial benefits, and we’re excited to work with Baker to help agencies get started with TREES.”
