Dash Selects NAVTEQ Traffic(TM) to Power Dash's Connected Navigation Service

NAVTEQ's real-time traffic complements Dash's unique probe-based driver network

CHICAGO, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, announced that Dash Navigation, Inc., a California-based provider of connected navigation applications and services, has selected NAVTEQ Traffic(TM) to power the real-time traffic application available to current customers of its connected navigation device, the Dash Express(TM).

Dash introduced the first Internet-connected personal navigation device to the marketplace last year and demonstrated the value of next-generation connected navigation -- for consumers and other device manufacturers. Since navigation is now a key feature for many devices, Dash is focusing on expanding its consumer reach by delivering the Dash Service through the broad array of connected devices on the market today. NAVTEQ Traffic will be available later this month to current Dash Express customers featuring NAVTEQ's unique traffic offering.

"It's clear that consumers love the benefits of connected navigation -- especially up-to-the minute traffic information -- as it helps them save time every day, whether they are commuting to and from work or rushing to pick their kids up from school," said Rob Currie, CEO of Dash Navigation. "We evaluated several different providers to supply the baseline traffic information for the Dash Service and selected NAVTEQ for their depth of data and broad coverage footprint."

Dash Express customers will be able to access NAVTEQ's live traffic data on their devices and receive continuously updated real-time traffic information in more than 75 cities across the U.S., including visual notification of congestion that allows drivers to see potential traffic delays and avoid traffic problems. NAVTEQ Traffic(TM) offers a comprehensive array of proprietary data sources, including probe, sensor, historical, and combined incident and flow information. NAVTEQ Traffic is the recognized leader in real-time traffic, delivering comprehensive, up-to-the minute accurate information to millions of consumers in North America.

"Research shows that traffic is the number one enhancement consumers want added to their navigation experience," commented Howard Hayes, vice president, traffic, NAVTEQ. "Dash Navigation continues to offer its customers the most comprehensive dynamic data experience with NAVTEQ Traffic."
