Localized Version of Vectorworks 2009 Launched in Japan: Traditional "Hatsuni-Shiki” Ceremony Starts the New Year Right

Columbia, Maryland (January 30, 2009)—Nemetschek North America announced that A&A Co., Inc., its distribution partner in Japan, has released its localized version of Vectorworks® 2009.

“In addition to the significant improvements in modeling operation speeds that are up to five times faster than before, we’re particularly pleased to be offering Vectorworks Architect to our market for the first time ever,” says Kazuko Uchida, president and CEO of A&A Co, Inc. Prior to this release A&A Co., which has been serving the Japanese market for more than 20 years, has only offered the Vectorworks Fundamentals and Designer products. “Vectorworks has become a de facto design tool for so many Japanese architects that it necessitated our localizing the architect-specific version of this popular CAD program,” Uchida adds.

The timing of Japanese release happened to coincide with the new year. An old traditional Japanese ceremony from the Edo period, called Hatsuni-Shiki, has merchants decorating the first shipped goods of the year and offering prayers for prosperity in the year to come. When the first boxes of Vectorworks 2009 were shipped this year, A&A Co. respected their culture’s deeply rooted tradition by holding a Hatsuni-Shiki ceremony.

The English-language versions of the Vectorworks 2009 product line were released in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and several European countries on September 15, 2008. Localized versions have also been released in a number of international markets, including Brazil, Germany, Italy, and France. The Japanese version, which is the most complex to localize, is one of the last markets to introduce Vectorworks 2009.
