ReverseEngineering.com, a leading provider of reverse engineering (RE) software for several applications and industries, today announced major improvements and enhancements to its HIPP (HighRES Integrated Point Processor) – SPX2.

Even before this upgrade, ReverseEngineering.com’s HIPP has been recognized as a best-in-class solution that integrates directly with many CAD/CAM software applications. This integration provides users with the ability to seamlessly integrate with the HIPP CAD/CAM native integrated software, thereby eliminating the risk of moving digitized geometry through the design and manufacturing cycle. Data sets can be imported into several CAD/CAM packages as organized native entities, completely eliminating data translation issues.

HIPP is a stand alone proprietary software technology that saves engineers time by providing versatility and control over scanned 3D point clouds. HIPP can handle millions of points and directly processes raw digitized data from a wide variety of digitizers and scanners. Developed to work with standard file formats, HIPP can import and export DAT, TXT, XYZ, ASCII and HighRES files. It can be installed and is compatible with Windows XP/Vista operating systems.

HIPP provides several unique features for reverse engineering, including:
•        Thinning
•        3-point alignment
•        Snap to plane
•        Creating custom planes “on the fly”
•        Point ordering and filtering
•        Multiple plane configurations
•        Adjustable probe tolerance maximizing accuracy

HIPP SPX2 adds to the functionality by providing:
•        Custom Alignments – lets you adjust your coordinate system, including its location, using a variety of methods. Custom alignments provide several ways for customizing alignments with different configurations so you can precisely enter the values you want to optimize your workflow.
•        Command Manager – minimizes the need to interact with pull-down menus and toolbars.

Additionally, a lot of HIPP’s SPX2 code has been updated with new thread technology that maximizes application efficiency. HIPP SPX2 also changes in a positive manner how the mouse and digitizer interact with each other.

HIPP files integrate seamlessly with the HighRES CAD native integrated software, eliminating the risk of moving digitized geometry through the design and manufacturing cycle. Data sets can be imported upstream to ten major CAD systems as organized native entities, completely eliminating data translation issues. HIPP integrates to leading CAD/CAM packages, including:

Autodesk AutoCAD/Mechanical Desktop
Rhino
Autodesk Inventor
Siemens NX
KeyCreator
Solid Edge
Mastercam
SolidWorks
Pro/ENGINEER

"With HIPP SPX2, we are providing real tools for real industrial applications," said Braxton Carter, CTO for ReverseEngineering.com. " By leveraging the ongoing improvements that we make to HIPP, our customers are able to simplify and streamline their reverse engineering and mechanical design processes.”

The stand alone proprietary software technology saves time by providing versatility and control over scanned 3D point clouds. HIPP can handle millions of points and directly processes raw digitized data from CMMs, PCMMs, retrofitted CNCs, laser trackers, laser scanners and optical scanners.
