Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center - Booth 2G01
SHENZHEN, China, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) will demonstrate a rich array of energy efficiency products and solutions under the theme of 'Green Power' at IIC-China 2009 in Shenzhen, China, from February 26 to 27, 2009. More than 30 product demos showcase ST's most advanced power management solutions which reflect ST's commitment to help customers reduce their environment footprint.
The world's leading supplier of power conversion semiconductors, according to independent analyst iSuppli, ST has long been committed to developing products and technologies that enable an increasingly efficient power-supply chain in microelectronics applications. ST 'Green Power' demo line-up at IIC-China includes applications for industrial, consumer and computer markets.
In industrial applications, where ST is the world's number one semiconductor supplier, the Company will show a broad spectrum of solutions ranging from a green air-conditioning inverter to eBike. Power consumption in these applications is reduced thanks to the use of ST's low-power microcontrollers. ST will demonstrate how the 32-bit STM32 microcontroller enables intelligent compressor control in air-conditioning systems by using inverters in home-appliance electric motors to achieve a 30-40% decrease in energy consumption. Also on show will be an 8-bit STM8S single-chip Flash controller with true embedded EEPROM and calibrated RC oscillator, enabling significant cost effectiveness in the majority of applications, among which the eBike is the most successful in China.
For power supply applications, ST will showcase the L6591, which offers asymmetrical half bridge topology for adapter/chargers over 90W compliant to Energy star 2.0, and the L6566A for 75W mobile PC adapter/chargers compliant to Energy Star 4.0 regulations.
One particular solution that has been developed by ST Greater China Competence Center is the Solar LED street light solution. It is composed of two modules: an 85W solar charger and a 25W LED Driver.
ST will also demonstrate the one-chip LED backlight drivers, LED7706 / LED7707 / PM66xx, which are effective for applications of large- and medium-sized displays, such as digital TVs, PCs and panels used in factory automation. These three products supply a current of 30 or 85mA to each row of up to 60 white LEDs.
For the first time at IIC-China, ST has invited four value-added resellers -- Manley, MXchip, BJX and B&S -- to jointly showcase energy-efficiency solutions catering to customers in the Greater China region. Their solutions help small-medium size customers to quickly respond to end appliance market needs.
ST will deliver two sessions in the IIC-China Vendor Seminars, elaborating on ST's technology for Green Power. On February 27, ST will present: 'Ultra-thin semiconductor power adapter solutions / platform' and 'New Viper family products for LED applications'. Additionally, at the exhibition, ST will present 'Intel/AMD processor based motherboards and efficient power-management solutions' to IIC visitors.
STMicroelectronics was one of the first global industrial companies to recognize the importance of environmental responsibility, its initial efforts beginning in the early 1990s. Since then ST has made outstanding progress; for example, energy and water consumption per product unit have been reduced by 5% and 9% per year, respectively, since 1994 and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 61% over the same timescale. In 2006 and 2007, ST achieved absolute reductions in CO2 emissions despite increased production volumes. Since 1991, the Company's sites have received more than 100 awards for excellence in all areas of Corporate Responsibility, from quality to corporate governance, social issues and environmental protection.
