deCarta Extends Navigation to the Fleet Market

deCarta WLNA Fleet Europe Streamlines Development of Fleet and Mobile Resource Management Navigation Solutions

CeBIT - HANNOVER, Germany, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- deCarta, the leading supplier of software and services for the Location Based Services (LBS) industry, today launched WLNA Fleet Europe. This navigation software application is specifically focused on the needs of the enterprise customer. It features a two-way communications interface that enables Fleet Tracking and Mobile Resource Management (MRM) service providers to easily develop navigation systems with integrated dispatch and messaging capabilities. In-vehicle navigation with messaging provides improved driver efficiency - resulting in cost savings for end users and generating new revenue opportunities for solution providers.

deCarta's WLNA Fleet is a complete navigation application which can be branded and personalised to the operator's needs. It is designed to meet two primary objectives. It allows OEMs, manufacturers, and fleet management operators to quickly develop a full-featured, customised turn-by-turn navigation application suitable for the enterprise environment. In addition, WLNA Fleet provides a messaging interface that integrates a messaging and dispatching platform with the navigation solution. Fleet operators can use existing dispatch systems to send pick-up and delivery locations to their drivers or communicate via text messages using an intuitive text based user interface. This provides fleet operators with the ability to quickly and clearly communicate with drivers resulting in more efficient and better routes.

"Our industry studies show that fleet owners are increasingly looking for not just dispatch but also in-vehicle navigation capability in their fleet management systems," said Clem Driscoll, President of C.J. Driscoll and Associates, who provide strategic consulting services to companies ranging from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups. "For many fleets, these solutions can provide a quick payback through increased driver efficiency and safety, reduced fuel costs and improved customer service."

WLNA Fleet can be easily integrated by fleet solution providers into their existing fleet and dispatching solutions and leverages their existing in-vehicle communications infrastructure to deliver messages and destinations to their drivers. Dispatchers can send multiple destinations to a driver who can then easily route to the destination via deCarta's WLNA navigation solution. deCarta's WLNA provides turn-by-turn navigation, driving directions, text-to-speech articulation of street names and points of interest and voice prompted directions. Drivers can also respond to dispatcher's messages quickly and safely. This combination of navigation, dispatching and messaging has proven benefits including improved communication; minimisation of data errors; reduced communication costs; reduced fuel consumption and improved performance on Service Level Agreements (SLA).

The WLNA Fleet is a Navigation Application built using the deCarta Navigation SDK. The Navigation SDK is a software development toolkit that enables easier, efficient development of a customised navigation system for PNDs. The WLNA Fleet builds on the core functionality of the SDK providing a complete user interface. WLNA Fleet is compatible with Windows CE 5.0 and Windows XP devices. WLNA Fleet requires additional hardware and web services to complete the dispatch and communication components of the system.

"Fleet management is all about efficiency. This requires that drivers have access to not only their destination, but also to the best possible routes to those destinations," said J. Kim Fennell, President and CEO Of deCarta. "We've had a tremendous response to WLNA Fleet from many of our existing Solution Providers who are interested in offering this solution as an upgrade for their existing fleet customer base."

deCarta's WLNA Fleet will be shown in Hall 14, Booth J16 at the CeBIT show (3-8 March, 2009 ) in Hannover, Germany. http://www.decarta.com
