Rolta’s OnPoint™ 6.3 - Exciting New Web Functionality for an Award Winning GeoSpatial Fusion Solution

OnPoint™ 6.3 software release targets enterprise need for access to diverse and disparate data resources and business system integration.

MARKHAM, ONTARIO, CANADA – April, 14, 2009 – Orion Technology, a Division of Rolta Canada Limited, today announced the latest release of its flagship product OnPoint 6.3. This release extends and adds exciting new web functionality to Rolta’s award winning Geospatial Fusion solution. OnPoint 6.3 continues the reputation of its predecessors as a supreme enterprise wide integrator of information content from multiple formats in disparate databases. It also marks the arrival of many exciting new capabilities that users have called for to better integrate their web-GIS needs within the context of diverse business systems throughout their enterprise. These capabilities include integration with Microsoft SharePoint®, eCommerce, improved Metadata support and support for Geoprocessing using ArcGIS® Server.

SharePoint Web Parts and Data Resource Integration
OnPoint now supports map viewing and searches within a Microsoft SharePoint® portal. OnPoint has also enhanced its capacity to serve data from diverse data formats in disparate databases with complete support for Microsoft Virtual Earth™, Pictometry® NIW, Pictometry® Online and Google™ Maps. Support is also extended for data types through ESRI’s current version of ArcGIS Server, accommodating annotation, dimensions, XY layers, subtypes and attribute domains.

Geoprocessing
Do you have some power users that need Geoprocessing horsepower? Geoprocessing models from ArcGIS Server can now be added into OnPoint through support for ArcGIS Server Geoprocessing. Web users can now execute various tasks within the OnPoint Web-GIS application, such as configuring Tasks, so that their results are plotted on specific map tabs within OnPoint.

Metadata Configuration
As the inventory of GIS information continues to grow, how do you keep up with all the changes and provide information to your users? Metadata configuration allows OnPoint users the ability to query layers for associated metadata. OnPoint provides the capability to link, delink, edit and delete metadata. Metadata can also be stored within the OnPoint database.

Those Little Extras that Make a Big Difference
And what else? When looking for a web-based GIS, one often looks at the big “headline worthy” items. However, it is inevitably the little things, functions here and there throughout the product, that make or break your final impression. This release of OnPoint features hundreds of those “little changes” from dynamic map resizing and coordinate display, to dependant attribute filtering in searches. OnPoint is full of those little extras that add polish to a high calibre product that is ever evolving to meet customer needs.

“Today marks another milestone in the history of our OnPoint,” says Shafik Jiwani, Senior Vice President GIS. “OnPoint has always been a collaborative effort based on the hard work of our global development team and the vital input of our clients and partners. I for one am proud of what we have been able to accomplish, and with continued support from everyone involved, we can only expect bigger and brighter things in the future for OnPoint and the GIS Industry that we serve.”
