GigOptix Rejuvenates Their RF Products and Re-enters the Broadband Power & Limiting Amplifier Markets

PALO ALTO, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 29, 2009 GigOptix Inc. (OTCBB: GGOX), a leading provider of electronic engines for the optically connected digital world, is revitalizing and expanding its offering of monolithic microwave integrated circuits and hybrids for the Military, Instrumentation and sensor markets. The performance and scope of the company’s broadband RF amplifiers is unrivaled in the industry, thanks to the legacy of its former iTerra Communications portfolio and the past two years of GigOptix’s extensive new product development.

At GigOptix’s inception in July 2007, the company focused on realizing the potential of its market leading products in optical transponders and built upon its relationship with leading submarine networks equipment vendors to deliver swift revenue growth. Now, with some 2 years of solid expansion in the global arena, GigOptix is building on its legacy to develop a stronger presence in the RF vertical market with the rejuvenation of its broadband power amplifiers and limiting amplifiers portfolio. This range includes the iT2000 family of Ultra-Broadband Power amplifiers valued by customers for their gain linearity and the iT3000 family of Limiting Amplifiers that offer the best jitter specs available in the market.

Key benefits of the Ultra-Broadband Power devices include:

  • Bandwidths from 30KHz to 26.5GHz
  • Excellent gain linearity
  • High efficiency
  • Low noise figure

The iT2005, iT2008, iT2009, and iT2018 are currently available as die, with the iT2005F available in a 5x5mm QFN. The GX6155 is also being characterized for use in RF applications.

Key benefits of the Limiting Amplifier line include:

  • Solutions for 10Gb, 25Gb, and 40Gb
  • High gain and high sensitivity (-40dBm)
  • Extremely low jitter and excellent signal integrity

The iT3010E, iT3011E, iT3012E, iT3018E, and GX3440 are currently available in full production.

“Throughout 2008 we continued to support strategic customers who were committed to volume use of our broadband RF products; however we did not highlight them or promote them in any way. Now, in 2009, we are convinced that with a fresh refocused strategy, more customers will benefit from the best in class performance that we can offer for RF, Military and Instrumentation applications,” stated Julie Tipton, GigOptix vice president of marketing. “We are now a stronger company and can provide better support and value to our wider customer base. Following our success in securing a lead position in the Optical Communications market, we intend to extend our portfolio into the RF broadband markets, with more new products in the coming months.”

Join GigOptix at the 2009 International Microwave Symposium in Boston from June 9-11.
