Mentor Engineering Unveils the Streets Schedule Application

Mentor Streets® Schedule simplifies scheduling for transit agencies, and eliminates inefficient manual processes

Calgary, AB — May 25, 2009 — Mentor Engineering releases Mentor Streets® Schedule. Streets Schedule is a software application that facilitates bus stop and route creation, trip generation, blocking and run cutting, rostering, bidding, and route geocoding for schedule/route adherence tracking and reporting.

As a cost-effective standalone application ideal for transit agencies that currently create schedules manually, or as part of the complete Mentor Streets solution, Streets Schedule simplifies scheduling in a number of ways. Agencies use the application to build routes and trips, and then arrange these trips into blocks. From these blocks, runs and rosters are created, drivers are assigned to rosters, and driver schedules are produced.

Here's how it works:

Agencies use Streets Schedule to define bus stops for their entire service area on a pan- and zoom-enabled map. Mapping the patterns to those stops eliminates the occurrence of duplicate stops in the same geographic area.

Once all the bus stops and routes have been created, the agency can start building the schedule. Here, service levels are created to define the types of service offered, such as regular or holiday service.

Next, available trips ready to be assigned are displayed, and the scheduler assigns trips using a simple drag-and-drop action.

Google™ Integration

TimeTablePublisher is a free application that allows transit agencies to transform raw scheduling data into easy-to-read timetables for customers. Once a schedule is created with Streets Schedule, it is Google™ compatible, meeting the Google™ Transit Feed Specification. This provides data directly to the TimeTablePublisher and accelerates the production of printed and web schedules.

As well, Mentor Streets Schedule supports integration with Google™ Maps. Streets automatically combines the transit agency's existing and future transit schedules to be used in Google Maps, which gives riders a single source for online trip planning. Transit in Google Maps allows passengers to create query-based itineraries and offers multiple ways to view routes.
