1Spatial offers solutions for business continuity and impact assessment at the GSDI 11 World Conference

1Spatial will be presenting their SDI Conformance Model at this prestigious international gathering in Rotterdam, the Netherlands from 15th to 19th June 2009.

The SDI Conformance Model developed as part of ESDIN (the European Spatial Data Infrastructure best practice Network) consists of several elements such as, schema transformation, conformance checking, generalisation and edge matching. The focus for the GSDI Conference will be on the Tried and Tested(tm) schema transformation solution for INSPIRE, which includes quality validation and GML3.2.1 encoding.

Tried & Tested enables organisations to deliver business benefit by:

  • Reusing existing data and schemas without additional remodelling
  • Automating the transformation process for INSPIRE compliance
  • Integrating data from multiple sources and for multiple themes
  • Creating methodologies for data management improvements
  • Reducing duplication within departments, organisations and across boundaries

1Spatial staff are presenting at the following workshops:

2:00pm - 3:30pm Monday 15th June, Workshop 3.7

-  "Is there quality in SDIs? How will technology help?"

Dr Matt Beare is joining Dr Antti Jakobsson from EuroGeographics, Prof. Anders Ostman from the University of Gavle/Future Position X and Riikka Henriksson from Helsinki University of Technology to discuss the quality assessment aspects of SDIs.

2:00pm - 3:30pm Thursday 18 June, Parallel Session 4.3, Data Sharing

Luc Van Linden from 1Spatial will be delivering a paper entitled:
"SDI Communities: Data Quality and Knowledge Sharing". 1Spatial successfully tested 3 themes with partner organisations from 3 countries for the JRC INSPIRE Annex I testing. This presentation will show that it is possible to work with INSPIRE schemas now and ensure compliance without massively reengineering the underlying data. This is the Tried & Tested approach for schema transformation and conformance checking.

Steven Ramage, Business Development Director at 1Spatial states that:

"The purpose of our SDI Conformance Model is to ensure business continuity while making changes to business processes and operational procedures when building Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs). It is addresses the requirements to build methodologies for data management within SDIs that enable seamless change updates and limited disruption to business as usual.

In the context of INSPIRE readiness reviews and impact assessments can be undertaken now and data exchange within and across government organisations is facilitated. This means that data access, data sharing and decision-making can be managed and improved in the context of achieving regional or national geodata strategy objectives."

1Spatial is involved in regional and national geodata infrastructure programmes across the world and will outline these at the GSDI World Conference. You are invited to attend these sessions and learn how you can benefit from this unique approach.
