Adapx Previews Groundbreaking Multimodal Product for ArcGIS and Showcases New Customers at 2009 ESRI User Conference

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jul 08, 2009 -- Adapx ( www.adapx.com) today announced new customers, a new product preview, and details of their participation at the 2009 ESRI User Conference held July 11-17 at the San Diego Convention Center. Conference attendees will be the first to experience Multimodal Capturx™ for ArcGIS, the next phase of Natural User Interface technology from Adapx. Teams can use multiple modes of input -- handwriting, sketch, and voice -- to more quickly and accurately navigate, annotate and create objects in ArcGIS with Tablet PCs, touch screens, and smart white boards. Adapx will also showcase new customers such as the City of Boise which joins NASA, Holland America Cruise Lines, the Port of Seattle, the US Army, DARPA, and the Phoenix Police Department, among hundreds of others using Capturx to automatically integrate handwritten data on paper maps and forms into ESRI® ArcGIS Desktop and Microsoft Office.

"Capturx is a simple, inexpensive solution that solves a problem that we've had for years," said Eric Wing, GIS system analyst at the City of Boise.

The City of Boise Fire Department uses Capturx for ArcGIS to update the fire map books used by every fire fighter to keep up to date on changing facilities and infrastructure conditions across the city. Prior to Capturx, the team updated inaccurate addresses and misplaced fire hydrants using Wite-Out® and ball point pens. Hand-annotated maps were transcribed by hand, photocopied, and then distributed to a network of 15 fire stations and 25 companies .The process took time, resources, and resulted in out-of-date map books.

The team now collects data on printed maps using digital pens and Capturx software, which automatically integrates the data into ArcGIS for immediate sharing across the network. The Fire department estimates that they've cut the process of markups and updating from 30 hours to 4 hours per month -- allowing the team to focus more time on protecting Boise lives and property instead of administrative tasks.

Adds Wing, "Most importantly, we've improved our overall workflow which ultimately saves the city a significant amount of time and money."
