The City of Largo, FL Joins Bentley’s MLS Program
Knoxville, TN (July 16, 2009)-ModernTech AEC Solutions announced today that the city of Largo, Florida has joined Bentley’s Municipal License Subscription (MLS) program. With an estimated 75,000 residents, located along the Gulf Coast of West Central Florida, just west of Tampa, is the city of Largo. In the midst of major budget cuts, the city is committed to maintaining and improving infrastructure by proactively making changes to improve efficiency while reducing overall costs.
ModernTech AEC Account Manager Mark Mincy worked closely with the Community Development Department of Largo to determine the city’s options. After discussing the city’s challenges managing growth, plan reviews, permitting, and department coordination, it was apparent that the MLS program was the right fit. “The subscription makes it affordable for the city of Largo to take advantage of the full breadth of Bentley’s software,” said Mincy. The program offers municipalities unlimited access to all the software needed for the mapping and engineering of infrastructure for a fixed fee, based on population.
Bentley’s MLS program provides a comprehensive portfolio of software, including:
• Public Works – roads, bridges, water, sewer, and storm
• Land Development
• Rail Design
• Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Design
• Urban Planning
• Cadastre Management
• Public Safety
• Municipal Building Design
• Mapping and 3D Modeling
• Project Collaboration
The advantage for the city will be improved productivity and reduced administrative costs due to an integrated solution that encompasses Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), Geographic Information System (GIS), utility network modeling and simulation, and Architectural/Engineering/Construction (AEC) content management for municipal utility infrastructure and related services. “The MLS is an exceptional value for local governments and an unprecedented opportunity for the City of Largo to plan, build, and manage an enterprise-level GIS using Bentley Geospatial in combination with Oracle Spatial. It’s about integrating disparate information, technologies, and staff members across the organization into a truly connected enterprise that maximizes the potential of every one of us,” said the AEC Systems Administrator from the department. The City of Largo is excited about working with ModernTech AEC and Bentley to take full advantage of all the benefits the MLS can offer to improve the services they provide to their citizens.
