Live 3D Images Delivery Between New York and Tokyo

FULL HD TV CONFERENCE SOFTWARE GIVES AMERICAN AND JAPANESE TEENAGERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET DREAM ANIME HEROES

WESTCHESTER, N.Y., July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- On July 25th, 2009, Keio Academy of New York starts the Bilingual Summer Program on campus. Like the first Bilingual Summer Program in 2008, participants will work on digital media productions in small groups. It is the program's goal to enhance participants' cross-cultural understanding and improve their communication skills by having both English and Japanese native speakers in group activities together. In 2009, given the theme, "Japan in New York," each group will explore aspects of Japanese culture and business in New York, which will afford participants the opportunity to learn about cross cultural communication and diverse aspects of New York.

The highlight of this program is the TV conference lecture by the guest speakers. Thanks to cutting edge technology developed by NTT in Japan -- RISCA264-HD: Real-time and interactive Software-based Codec Architecture for H.264-HDTV -- prominent anime producers such as Michael Arias (ANIMATRIX, Tekkonkinkrete, etc), Shoji Kawamori (Macross, SONY AIBO, etc.) and other animation producers who are in Tokyo, can give participants a talk as if they were sharing the same lecture hall in New York. This technology provides the high resolution screen, real-time two way image delivery, and lets people on both ends experience virtual US -- Japan cross cultural communication without any boundaries. This first in world computer software also brings another experiment on this summer program -- Keio University Digital Media Contents, NTT East and NTT Cyber Space Laboratories will send the 3D image through full HD (1920 X 1080) resolution from Tokyo to New York, which is an epoch-making communication.
