ESRI's Electric & Gas User Group Conference Set for Atlanta in October

Utilities Convene to Discuss Industry Challenges, Solutions, GIS Technology

Redlands, California—September 17, 2009—The electric and gas community will come together at the ESRI Electric & Gas User Group (EGUG) Conference October 11–14, 2009, in Atlanta, Georgia. Attendees will discuss how to apply geographic information system (GIS) technology to crucial areas such as working in a slow economy, implementing the smart grid, meeting distribution integrity management requirements, and handling aging infrastructure.

The EGUG Conference is an engaging forum that goes beyond presentations and demonstrations. The event will cover field force innovation, data models, enterprise GIS, and other important electric and gas issues. This year's host utility, Southern Company, will take conference goers on a tour of its Atlanta facility and discuss its own best practices. Technical workshops will include How to Develop a Situational Awareness Web Application and Improving Efficiency of the Design and As-Building Workflows. Regardless of position or GIS experience, attendees will find out how GIS innovation is helping utilities worldwide become more successful.

"Utilities are now facing unprecedented challenges," said Bill Meehan, ESRI's director of utility solutions."The EGUG Conference presents an ideal opportunity for utilities to network with peers and experts about those challenges. Most importantly, you will find out how GIS can help."
