"At Lansing Community College i3D solutions will be initially incorporated," said Judith Berry, Dean, Business, Media, and Information Technologies Division, "in the Art, Design, and Multimedia Programs where students will work as artists, modelers, animators, actors, and developers of course material to develop highly interactive three-dimensional multimedia courseware libraries to be used throughout media, science, healthcare, mathematics, and technical careers across campus." The new digital material will be designed for inclusion in existing and new programs for classrooms for all disciplines, for e-Learning and professional improvement, as well as to enhance marketing capabilities for Lansing Community College. "Further," said Bergerud, "the implementation of these 3D technology solutions will also be providing Michigan business and industry a workforce with an enhanced skill set for the creation of visualization and simulation-based applications -- content creation that is in high demand globally."
"The examples of i3D in healthcare, automotive industry, construction, law enforcement and teaching are limitless," said LCC President Brent Knight. "This cutting edge i3D learning experience will help prepare LCC students to pursue careers in informational design or as 3D simulation modeling technicians."
Judith Berry indicated, "The long-term goal of the college is to be a Digital Innovation Center for the Arts, Science and Technology (DiCAST) and to collaborate with other educational institutions around the country to design highly-interactive media to be used for training purposes in a variety of programs and industries with a goal of creating a self-sustaining learning environment."
