Molex Receives Prestigious Ford Motor Company Q1 Award

Dongguan, China facility recognized for meeting Ford’s highest standards of quality and service

LISLE, Ill. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 30, 2009Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLX)(NASDAQ: MOLXA) announced today that its Dongguan, China facility was presented with the Ford Motor Company’s Q1 Award, its highest recognition for supplier quality and service. On November 5, the Ford Q1 plaque and flag were presented to the Dongguan cable team by Steve Tong, senior manager, Ford STA. Molex provides Ford with HSAutoLink™ cable assemblies and Customer Convenience Ports for vehicle infotainment and networking systems.

Ford, which established the global Q1 quality system to guarantee high standards from its suppliers, evaluates several key categories:

  • System capabilities, including third-party certifications such as QS-9000, TS 16949, etc.
  • Ongoing performance history with Ford
  • Site assessment, including the supplier’s manufacturing process and customer satisfaction ratings
  • Endorsements from customers to ensure the supplier is meeting expectations
  • Evidence of continued improvement so that a supplier is constantly challenged to become better each year

Suppliers needed 800 points to receive and retain Q1 certification. Molex achieved a score of 1,200, putting the company at the upper end of Ford’s top-tier suppliers.
