"War no longer exists," writes General Sir Rupert Smith, Former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, powerfully in his book. "The Utility of Force" reminding us that the clash of mass national armies — the nature of warfare since Napoleon — will never occur again. Instead, he argues, we must be prepared to adapt our methods of warfare to each conflict, or lose our ability to protect ourselves and our way of life.

Right information at the right time could mean the difference between life and death. The Defence Geospatial Intelligence (DGI) 2010 event, taking place at the QEII Conference Centre, London from 25th - 28th January, is set to explore the most interesting, successful and innovative ways GIS is used in current military action and in war on terrorism.
Generals, colonels and their civilian counterparts from national security organisations will be debating and sharing experiences of using GIS in mission critical situations. London 2012 Olympic Games are one of the core subjects for discussions.
Presentations from European Ministries of Defence, Ordnance Survey, British Transport Police, The Metropolitan Police and many of their colleagues from USA, Canada, and Europe will form the conference sessions.

three-day conference and exhibition will feature project case studies, stakeholder-driven panels, peer-to-peer roundtables, executive level dialogue, product testing and networking opportunities to help attendees overcome the current and future challenges in GIS capabilities implementation.
