Architects Adopt Newforma Project Center to Achieve Strategic Goals

MANCHESTER, NH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Mar 09, 2010 -- Newforma®, a software company addressing the project information management (PIM) needs of architecture, engineering and construction firms, today announced that design firms recently purchasing Newforma® Project Center based their investments on the software's contribution toward achieving the strategic objectives of their businesses. Three representative firms -- Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects, Arrowstreet and Renaissance 3 Architects -- cited compelling software functionality that will contribute directly to their firms' strategic goals to improve client service, raise productivity, practice sustainable design and more.

For example, Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects is a 100-seat firm based in Portland, Ore., and Seattle. Principal Murray Jenkins, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, said the underlying goal for Newforma Project Center is to raise efficiency and improve responsiveness to clients. "For a large project, the amount of information that goes through a project manager's desk is mind-numbing," Jenkins said. "We've tried a number of existing tools to manage it: Excel spreadsheets, Access databases, the tools in Outlook. We've tried to use a leading project extranet system. None have worked. We have purchased the Newforma software because it provides lots of workflow assists, from construction administration to issue tracking, all in a single platform that has been developed specifically for our industry."

Arrowstreet is an architectural firm of 50 employees based in Somerville, Mass. Senior Associate and Director of Information Technology Robert Fortin says the firm's emphasis on client service affects the way its professional staff manages project information. "We want to impress clients each time they come to us with a question," Fortin said. "Newforma Project Center gives anyone on the project team the ability to find email and other information without having to track down and ask the person who filed it. The software will help people use email, which was designed for private interchange, as a business-wide tool."

Renaissance 3 Architects is a 25-person firm based in Pittsburgh. Associate and CADD Systems Manager John Michaels ties the value of Newforma Project Center to the firm's core values. "At Renaissance 3 Architects, we believe in 'the power of three': design, technology and sustainability," Michaels said. "Newforma Project Center advances all three of these objectives. For example, the digital light table improves design by giving us a quick and easy way to spot changes in two versions of a drawing. The technology's comprehensive search capabilities find text in files wherever they reside on our network, and its markup capabilities permit us to redline documents 100 percent digitally. And we anticipate applying for LEED credits as a result of the technology's innovativeness and contribution to reduced use of paper and energy."

Newforma Chief Executive Officer Ian Howell said, "Exploding volumes of project information and the unfortunate loss of project knowledge due to staff cutbacks undermine productivity and hamper responsive client service. It is truly gratifying for everyone on the Newforma team to see Newforma Project Center enabling project architects and project managers to be more responsive to their clients and to have more time to focus on design. And, the fact that it allows principals in different-sized firms to achieve their strategic goals even in the midst of such challenging economic times is even more satisfying."
