Timmons Group’s Web LoGIStics Portal Selected by the University of Virginia

Richmond, VA—June 7, 2010-- Timmons Group, a leader in enterprise geospatial products and services, was recently selected by the University of Virginia (UVA) to develop a GIS-based website to aid in facilities and asset management, campus security and emergency management.  The Web LoGIStics solution for UVA will be built on top of ESRI’s ArcGIS server tools, leveraging the 9.3.1 Flex API.

“We have an institutional need to integrate GIS into our business processes,” said Arthur McDonough, UVA GIS Administrator.  “This need crosses many lines of business, including utilities and facilities management and extending into emergency management and response.  In scanning the market, we liked the look and feel of ESRI’s mapping APIs.  We searched for a product that was based on this core technology with the ability to integrate multiple business themes and found Web LoGIStics.  We liked the flexibility the solution offered, including the ability to add and customize widgets as needs evolve. Timmons Group’s partnership with Pictometry and integration of oblique imagery provides the level of detail we need for campus security, routine operations and maintenance support and facilities management.”

Along with the inclusion of Pictometry in Web LoGIStics, the new website will ultimately leverage the Building Interior Space Data Model (BISDM).  Use of this model allows for facility management staff to locate campus buildings and rooms, attributed with blueprint drawings and as-built data for in-depth analysis of interior spaces and grounds data.

“We are excited about this partnership with UVA and the opportunity to create a unique campus management website,” said Lowell Ballard, Director of Geospatial Solutions for Timmons Group. “We look forward to continually working with UVA to expand this solution in the future.”
