Forming Suite 8.1 Cuts the Time and the Number of Iterations by 50%

Burlington, ON, CANADA — June 30, 2010 —Forming Technologies Inc. (FTI) the industry’s only regenerative and associative solutions for design, simulation, and costing of sheet metal components, today unveiled Forming Suite Version 8.1. Forming Suite provides cost optimization, forming simulation and blank prediction tools for sheet metal stampings.

“Forming Suite 8.1 continues to build upon our unique associative and regenerative architecture,” states Michael Gallagher, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Our client’s will see huge speed and performance gains of more than 50% and that equates to hard dollar savings on labor.”

Forming Suite 8.1 includes two new solutions, FormingSuite Professional and COSTOPTIMIZER for Progressive Dies. FormingSuite Professional offers the market a powerful package of solvers and tools for die/strip development and analysis. All three solvers – Coupled Hybrid Inverse (CHI) One-Step, Finite Increment Technology (FIT) Implicit, and the Explicit LS-DYNA® – are all within the FormingSuite Environment. COSTOPTIMIZER for Progressive Dies includes all traditional features of our COSTOPTIMIZER plus additional tools and enhancements for the progressive die designer.

Forming Suite v8.1 brings forth additional features such as advanced blank modifications, increased trimming functions for the incremental solutions, offal export, as well as other software features to improve ease of use and speed. “The FormingSuite architecture has proven to be a leader for product designers as well as the process engineers, who have stated the value of being in this versatile environment,” adds Gallagher. “Whether the user is doing a One-Step feasibility analysis or a more detailed process analysis, they need only to input the information once and then simply move through the FormingSuite history tree. The end result is a 50% decrease in design time, and the ability to share and automatically update information throughout the entire process in a more optimized and controlled manner.”
