EADS Innovation Works Selects MSC.Software CAE Solutions for the Deployment of the PLM Harmonization Project Called PHENIX

SANTA ANA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jul 13, 2010 -- MSC.Software, the leader in multidiscipline simulation solutions that accelerate product innovation, today announced that EADS Innovation Works will switch to the Enterprise Advantage License Unit (EALU) licensing system and will use MD Nastran as shared solver within their group-wide deployment of PHENIX (PLM Harmonization for Enhanced Integration and Excellence). The decision to use the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) products from MSC.Software is due to a strong partnership agreement with EADS signed in 2008.

PHENIX was launched in 2007 with the goal of harmonizing and standardizing methods, processes and tools associated with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) across all divisions of the company. EADS intends to use the unified PLM software to tighten workflows, launch products faster in the future, and lower production costs. The transnational EADS Innovation Works Research Center developed and implemented a CAE simulation policy together with the EADS divisions in the PHENIX Simulation Task Force. MSC.Software's Enterprise Advantage License Unit (EALU) and MD Nastran were selected for the greatest possible flexibility and versatility of applications, and the standardization of software tools. The use of SimXpert as a pre- and post-processing tool is currently being tested.

"MSC.Software's flexible licensing system which gives us access to MD Nastran as universal solver provides crucial building blocks on the road towards improving global cooperation within the PHENIX initiative," says Dr. Peter Middendorf, Head of Structure Integration & Mechanical Systems at EADS Innovation Works. "We regard MSC.Software as a competent partner, whose solutions do justice to the rigorous demands of our highly innovative industry."

"We are extremely pleased that our partnership with EADS Innovation Works continues to intensify through the strategic choice of MSC.Software products," said Dominic Gallello, President & CEO of MSC.Software."We are confident that our products and best-in-class CAE technical and engineering expertise can actively support EADS in making the PHENIX initiative a success. We also believe that the industry leading simulations of real world behaviors made possible by MD Nastran will not only provide significant value to EADS but also for a broad range of industries globally."

Enterprise Advantage License Unit (EALU) is a flexible, parallel licensing system provided by MSC.Software. EALU allows access through a license pool to over 100 solutions from the product portfolio of MSC.Software. At the core of EALU is MD Nastran. It is also possible to access other engineering products, such as MSC Nastran, Patran, Marc, MD Adams, Dytran, and Easy5. MD Nastran combines MSC Nastran, Marc, Dytran and LS-Dyna into a completely integrated, multidiscipline solution providing linear, implicit, and explicit non-linear calculations within a single unified platform.
