Autodesk Executive to Participate in Federal Government Sponsored Green Building Conference

Architecture, Engineering and Construction Executive will Share Insights on Best Practices for High-Performance Green Building

Waltham, MA, July 12, 2010 — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), a world leader in 2D and 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, announced today that Phil Bernstein, vice president of industry strategy and relations for Autodesk’s architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) solutions division will participate in a panel discussion during today’s green building conference convened by the Obama Administration. The White House will be hosting a meeting on the government’s leadership in promoting sustainable buildings. The panel discussions will focus on leveraging scale and the role of government leading by example, financing sustainable building efforts, and the call for innovation in research and technology.

According to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), buildings account for 72 percent of the country’s electricity consumption and nearly 40 percent of all carbon dioxide emissions. Mr. Bernstein will provide insight on best practices and the latest R&D from the commercial sector to aid the federal government in its effort to meet new energy efficiency and sustainability standards.

Topics of discussion will include:

· How federal challenges correspond with those of the commercial sector. Rapidly accelerating energy conservation standards are creating a huge demand for easy, accurate assessment of energy consumption of both new and existing buildings.

· Rapid adoption of new methodologies within the private sector. Innovations in the private sector are based on the accelerating use of digital technologies that allow the rapid capture of conditions, documentation of those conditions, and analysis of the results. Such methodologies require a systems approach to projects, connected by both process and technology innovation.

· How the disaggregated and underemployed private sector would benefit from government initiatives. By requiring innovation in delivery and technology, the federal government could create an industry standard and better utilize the industry’s employment base, which has been hit hard by the recession.
