eSpatial’s iSMART GIS supports access to the OS OnDemand services provided by Ordnance Survey of Great Britain.

OS OnDemand is a new online service that delivers world-class Ordnance Survey mapping over the Web directly to your organisation

6th September 2010, Dublin, Ireland: eSpatial, a leading provider of Web GIS, and Location Information solutions today announced that its market leading GIS product, iSMART supports access to the OS OnDemand services provided by Ordnance Survey of Great Britain.

OS OnDemand delivers world-class Ordnance Survey mapping over the Web directly to your organisation – when you want it, where you want it, quickly. This web map service (WMS) offers Ordnance Survey licensed customers the most up-to-date mapping of all of Great Britain at a range of scales, including a raster view of OS MasterMap® Topography Layer, making it ideal for a huge variety of applications. OS OnDemand is based on open standards, eliminating specialist requirements, and therefore enabling all Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) compliant web applications to consume OS OnDemand.

eSpatial’s iSMART now offers support for OS OnDemand. iSMART is a fully functional GIS delivered through your web browser. You can use it to create, edit, analyze and share geographic information and business data on the web. You can also view web maps such as those provided through Ordnance Survey’s OS OnDemand, serving up maps and searching post codes and place names quicker and easier than ever before. iSMART is a proven and award-winning GIS used by many commercial and government organisations worldwide. It is highly flexible and configurable: Existing uses range from public internet access to engineering design “power users”. iSMART is also now available “in the Cloud” as SaaS GIS (Software as a Service).

eSpatial’s iSMART software is compliant with the OS On Demand WMS 1.1.1, Service, and at this date is the only GIS software compliant with the OS On Demand Gazetteer Service.

Philip O’Doherty, eSpatial CEO commented; “eSpatial is delighted to announce that its iSMART GIS supports access to the OS OnDemand services provided by Ordnance Survey of Great Britain. iSMART and OS OnDemand makes mapping data available to anyone in your organisation enabling more users in more businesses and government organisations to realise the benefits of geospatial analysis, visualisation and maps, faster”.

Julian Cooper, Web service development manager for Ordnance Survey said;
“I’m really pleased to have eSpatials support in working with our OS OnDemand OGC compliant web map service. iSMART is the first solution to support the OS OnDemand place name and postcode gazetteer service, making it even easier to access the most up to date, accurate mapping data of Great Britain available over the web.”
