MSC.Software Donates Multidiscipline Simulation Software to Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering

SANTA ANA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Sep 15, 2010 -- MSC.Software, the leader in multidiscipline simulation solutions that accelerate product innovation, today announced that it has donated 50 simulation software seats to Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering.

The simulation technology will better prepare students for industrial jobs by assisting them in solving more complicated and realistic design and engineering problems. Associate Professor of Mechanical engineering Christopher Lee, Ph.D. at Olin College is one of the professors using the software in his undergraduate classes.

Lee believes that MSC.Software's simulation solutions will help Olin College develop stronger and superior educational content. After using the software in courses such as Mechanics of Solids and Structures and Mechanical and Aerospace Systems, Lee plans to integrate MSC.Software's simulation software into many more courses. The knowledge his students gain in multidisciplinary simulation methods and techniques will allow them to hit the ground running when they join industry.

"MSC.Software is a seamless fit to Olin's academic program. It provides a wide spectrum of simulation tools that will enable our students to 'do' in our 'do-learn' approach to engineering education," said Associate Professor Lee from Olin College.

MSC.Software's donation, made through MSC.Software's University Program, includes the company's state-of-the-art multidisciplinary (MD) simulation products, including MD Nastran, Patran and Marc that are widely used in a variety of engineering disciplines and industries, particularly in the aerospace, defense, automotive, machinery, energy, and medical fields.

"We are delighted to collaborate with the first US engineering college founded in the 21st century," said Dominic Gallello, President & CEO at MSC.Software. "Olin's unique combination of teaching students engineering, entrepreneurship and leadership prepares very special future members of the engineering workforce. We are proud that our tools can better prepare them with additional skills that the automotive, aerospace and general manufacturing industry is looking for."
