Snecma Standardizes on ANSYS Workbench Technology

Leading Global Aircraft Manufacturer Selects ANSYS for Corporate-Wide Product Development

PITTSBURGH — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 27, 2010 — French aerospace manufacturer Snecma (Safran group) plans to develop more innovative aircraft and rocket engine designs at a faster pace with its recent selection of software from ANSYS (NASDAQ: ANSS).

Snecma is deploying ANSYS® Workbench as its standard simulation environment to support a corporate-wide product initiative as it develops civil and military airplane engines, launch vehicles and satellites. The technology from ANSYS enables customers to optimize designs throughout the development process, especially in the early stages when changes can be efficiently and cost-effectively implemented.

The aerospace company plans to leverage the open architecture of the ANSYS Workbench framework, relying on the technology for all its computer-aided engineering solver interfaces and to reach an optimized design of Snecma products in terms of performance, cost and robustness. Through a strong collaboration with ANSYS, Snecma was able to establish a product development baseline and measure the value that the ANSYS Workbench platform will add to existing processes, thus creating the foundation for a long-term partnership between the two organizations.

ANSYS Workbench offers close integration with computer-aided design (CAD) systems, robust meshing and an open data exchange framework, providing Snecma with a seamless analysis environment.

“Snecma will realize the benefits that can be achieved by applying numerical simulation upstream in its product development processes. Through the use of ANSYS software, the organization can look into innovation as a best practice, while concurrently reducing time to market,” said Josh Fredberg, vice president, marketing at ANSYS.
