Flow International Embraces Dassault Systèmes’ V6 Portfolio

Waterjet Cutting Leader Will Deploy V6 Solutions for Authoring, Collaboration, Simulation and Interactive Product Documentation

ORLANDO, Fla. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 8, 2010Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Paris: DSY)(Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions announced today that Flow International, the leader in ultrahigh-pressure waterjet cutting technology and systems, has adopted Dassault Systèmes’ flagship V6 portfolio of PLM solutions, including CATIA, ENOVIA, SIMULIA and 3DVIA.

Flow International, which employs approximately 600 people in twelve countries, will deploy V6 to design, analyze, manufacture, document and manage their product line, which include complex assemblies containing up to 90,000 parts each. The Dassault Systèmes solutions will also be used to facilitate program management, bill-of-materials management, product data management, supplier workflows, IP management, assembly requirements, field training, reporting, simulation, modeling and purchasing. Idex Solutions, a leading Dassault Systèmes value-added reselling partner, is implementing these solutions and migrating Flow’s legacy assemblies, parts and drawings to V6. Idex will also be integrating knowledgeware with Flow’s designs to decrease development time.

The Dassault Systèmes V6 portfolio will replace Flow’s current licenses of various engineering software solutions. Flow decided a single source of data would enable them to develop products more quickly, create a closed loop design to manufacturing environment and create a closed loop quality management system.

Craig Sunada, VP of Global Product Development for Flow International, put it succinctly when asked about his company’s attraction to Dassault Systèmes’ V6 portfolio: “This is the most innovative thing I’ve seen in PLM in the past 20 years. V6 will enable us to manage our products from concept through their complete lifecycle.”

“We’re excited about the sheer scale of Flow’s integration with DS V6 PLM,” said Steve Macri, vice president, PLM Value Selling, North America, Dassault Systèmes. “It’s great to see how innovative companies like Flow are taking advantage of cutting-edge V6 solutions like 3DLive and DesignSight. Flow’s field technicians will use 3DLive to pull up large complex assemblies to find specific part numbers to know exactly what they’re working on at any given time. Employees offsite are not ordinarily able to access a specific part number – but with 3D visualization if you can see it, you can find it, and that’s the beauty of V6.”
