Urban Mapping Hires Industry Veteran, John Marshall, to Lead Engineering as CTO

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Nov 11, 2010 -- Urban Mapping, Inc (UMI), the web mapping and on-demand data service provider, announced today that technology veteran John Marshall has joined as chief technology officer. Marshall brings more than 20 years of entrepreneurial and executive experience in software development and Internet services to UMI.

As chief technology officer, John will lead all development and operations at UMI, with a focus on its flagship service, Mapfluence, the cloud-based mapping and data analytics platform. Marshall brings a wealth of technology management and entrepreneurial experience in companies ranging from Fortune 100 corporations to Internet startups including AOL Time Warner, Luminaire, Crystal Graphics, Mixtly and Coveted Closet. As vice president of technology architecture at AOL Time Warner he was responsible for platform integration and developing new products in digital rights management. During his seven-year tenure at AOL, he led architecture and development efforts for the flagship AOL client and real-time voice and video communication services, receiving two AOL Technology Excellence Awards for his work. Marshall earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Harvard College and holds two patents for Internet technologies.
