GET to Provide First line of support for local OpenGeo Suite users.

New York, New York, November 18, 2010 - OpenGeo, producer of the OpenGeo Suite, today announced a reseller agreement with Athens-based Geospatial Enabling Technologies Ltd. (GET), to bring the first Enterprise FOSS stack offering to the Greek and Cyprian markets. GET is a dominant provider of geoinformatic marketing and service solutions in Greece and Cyprus.  This new relationship enables GET to expand its capabilities and offer clients solutions based upon the OpenGeo Suite, a fully integrated open source geospatial platform.

"This partnership is very important for GET because it will give us the opportunity to design, develop and implement projects in the field of geoinformatics based on open source software, and of course to support the OpenGeo Suite in Greece and Cyprus," said Mr. Gabriel Ch. Mavrellis, GET CEO & founder.  "This partnership comes at a time of many changes in the field of geoinformatics in Greece, where the government is strongly supporting and promoting the collaborative development of open geospatial technologies and data.   With our new partnership, we are very well positioned in the market as a unique provision point of both excellent proprietary and open source geospatial enabling solutions."

Local clientele in Greece and Cyprus will work with GET as a first line of OpenGeo Suite support.  GET will also interact with OpenGeo as a second line of support when necessary.  Upon announcing the partnership, Chris Holmes, OpenGeo president, noted, "We are very happy to be working with GET, as it will allow us to add local expertise and support for OpenGeo Suite users, as well as adding value to users of the OpenGeo Suite in Greece and Cyprus."

OpenGeo, known worldwide as major contributors to open source geospatial technologies, have advocated FOSS implementations to facilitate commercial efficacy and government transparency.   The OpenGeo Suite is a complete, OGC standards-compliant web mapping platform built on cutting-edge open source geospatial components.  These interoperable components, including GeoServer, OpenLayers, GeoWebCache, PostGIS and GeoExt, are developed and maintained by active open source communities.  It enables enterprise users to utilize its coherent and powerful software stack, with the reliability and support of a single, stable vendor.
