Advanced Visual Systems to Deliver Improved Data Visualization Using Parallel Processing on Windows HPC Server 2008 R2

WALTHAM, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Apr 13, 2011 -- Advanced Visual Systems (OTCQB: AVSC) has announced the first innovations of a high performance computing collaboration with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), designed to help users in the field of science, academic research and engineering achieve measurable improvements in parallel processing initiatives that utilize 3D data visualization to analyze complex data.

The collaboration will introduce numerous enhancements to the popular AVS/Express data visualization system ( www.avs.com/express) that are specifically designed to tap into the power of Microsoft Windows HPC Server 2008 R2. Some of these new features include comprehensive integration with Microsoft's powerful job scheduling capabilities; added security to Microsoft MPI communication; and access to specific cluster resources directly from within the AVS/Express data visualization environment.

According to Anoop Chatterjee, CTO of Advanced Visual Systems, "Our relationship with Microsoft has enabled recent enhancements to AVS/Express to reflect the needs of the hands-on HPC customer. For IT implementers it means a faster and easier approach to creating powerful HPC clusters -- and for researchers and engineers it means easier access to state-of-the-art 3D data visualization and computer processing of complex data from a wide range of industries. We are looking forward to testing our applications in Microsoft's performance lab to continue to add performance and scalability improvement into AVS/Express."

"Microsoft is excited to work with AVS to bring more robust data visualization to the windows HPC community. By using Windows HPC Server with AVS/Express users can more readily gain access to powerful, scalable computing power and visualization resources," said Bill Hamilton, Director of Technical Computing at Microsoft. "This will help more researchers and engineers across industries fuel product innovation, speed research and development, and accelerate time to market."

AVS/Express on Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 is now available.

AVS/Express enables rapid, object-oriented development of rich and highly interactive scientific and technical data visualizations. Now in its sixteenth year of release and worldwide deployment at leading research facilities, universities and engineering organizations, AVS/Express is considered one of the most prolific data visualization software tools and is offered in several editions that exploit nearly every contemporary and legacy data format.
