Glynn County Selects Tadpole-Cartesia?s GO! Sync Replication Technology for ArcGIS

Carlsbad (CA), October 7, 2003: Glynn County, recipient of ESRI’s Special Achievement in GIS 2003, has selected Tadpole-Cartesia’s GO! Sync technology to replicate its enterprise ArcGIS environment throughout various county departments.

Tadpole's GO! Sync software will enable departments within Glynn County to replicate data stored in ArcSDE without the hassles of manual intervention. Starting with the E-911 group, GO! Sync will be used to ensure its SDE GeoDatabase is kept concurrent with Glynn County’s GIS.

“Two of the most important aspects of the GO! Sync’s replication capabilities are that it leverages our investment in enterprise ArcGIS and it eliminates the dependence on manual intervention to transfer and update data throughout the county,” says Jackie Magnant, GIS manager for Glynn County.

“Currently, Glynn County GIS is responsible for the assignment and maintenance of 911 property addresses and all spatial data. Address information is sent in a nightly batch routine to the 911 Center via an Oracle-to-Oracle transfer. That non-spatial data transfer is automated. However, the spatial data needed must be exported from SDE to shapefile, meaning each shapefile must be opened and manually indexed. With ESRI’s ArcSDE and Tadpole Cartesia’s GO! Sync, this process will be automated and manual intervention is limited to routine maintenance.”

“We are extremely pleased with the adoption of GO! Sync by local governments,” states Jason Linley, director of Tadpole-Cartesia's North American operations. “As GO! Sync is discovered by city and county organizations, previously unattainable goals with ArcGIS are now realized. As with Glynn County, we have found GO! Sync’s replication capabilities to have an immediate benefit. Maintaining a GeoDatabase devoted to 911’s mission is critical to Glynn County and because GO! Sync is integrated with ArcGIS, it supports the vision of broadly leveraging enterprise ArcGIS throughout the county.”

GO! Sync also overcomes the problems associated with keeping data synchronized between different sites and mobile workers. It is designed to support both disconnected editing and replication, as well as data sharing. GO!Sync is built with ArcObjects and supports ESRI licenses and GeoDatabases.
