GeoDecisions® Awarded Spatial Data Infrastructure Project in United Arab Emirates

(May 20, 2011/Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an award-winning leader in the information technology industry specializing in geospatial solutions, has been awarded the first phase of a multi-phase National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) project by the United Arab Emirates National Crisis and Emergency Management Agency (NCEMA). An NSDI represents the information technology system that facilitates the sharing of computer mapping data among agencies within a country, the mapping data itself, and the data sharing agreements among various government agencies. Implementing an NDSI typically achieves significant cost savings, enhances the use of the data collected, and fosters better informed decision making by users.

When complete, the NSDI will provide the technology architecture necessary to facilitate the rapid collection and integration of spatial datasets from various agencies throughout the United Arab Emirates. The NSDI, in turn, will support NCEMA’s large-scale emergency management and public safety efforts. Phase one of this project contains three distinct groups of deliverables, including a strategic architecture design, the pilot NSDI, and a data viewer application.

The strategic architecture design will provide a document that will detail the long-term vision for NCEMA’s spatial information technology infrastructure and supporting people, processes, and technology. Once finalized, GeoDecisions will design and implement the initial NSDI. This pilot NSDI will supply a robust information technology architecture supporting the collection of stakeholder agency spatial datasets for use by various NCEMA business applications. GeoDecisions will also provide detailed training to sustain this infrastructure.

GeoDecisions will also develop an ArcGIS® Server-based data viewer application and other spatially enabled web services for NCEMA. These capabilities will allow NCEMA staff to review existing spatial datasets and enhance their planning and emergency management decision making.

GeoDecisions’ experienced staff of professional consultants, analysts, and developers support clients worldwide. Fundamental to the company’s award-winning approach is the integration of spatial information to empower existing systems and processes. GeoDecisions’ philosophy is based on an enterprisewide approach to the integration of diverse information technologies, data formats, and systems.

GeoDecisions is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
