As part of a global information management strategy, Dassault Systemes, owner of the SolidWorks subsidiary, decided to modernize and normalize their technical documentation content across all groups. More specifically, DS SolidWorks decided to move to DITA as their selected information architecture. Very quickly, it became clear to the DS SolidWorks team, that a Component Content Management System (CCMS) would be required to efficiently manage this modular type of architecture and optimize their overall processes. In fact, with no CCMS in place, DS SolidWorks would be facing serious challenges such as missing out on reuse opportunities, various error-prone manual processes, no version control, and no link and reference checking.
After an extensive research for the best CCMS solutions available, that would fit with their specific requirements, DS SolidWorks picked the DITA CMS solution from IXIASOFT.
