Leica Geosystems enlarges its Zeno GIS series with a rugged tablet computer

(Heerbrugg, 5 July 2011) – Leica Geosystems is pleased to announce a further enhancement to the Zeno GIS family – the Leica CS25, a versatile tablet computer combining a 7’’ screen, fully rugged and light-weight. The new CS25 is designed for data collection tasks and can transport a user's office to the field. Together with the new Leica GG02 plus, centimeter accuracy positioning even in difficult environments is achieved. Together with updates to the successful field and office applications of Zeno Field v2.1, Zeno Connect v1.1, Zeno Office v2.1 and MobileMatriX v4.2, the Zeno GIS family continues to grow and further ideally address all mobile GIS market segments.

The Leica CS25 Rugged Tablet Computer is designed for the most demanding working environments. With the Leica CS25, collecting and mapping feature and attributes, performing inspections, communicating with the office, and real-time transferring of data is made easy — while having the certainty that all collected information is protected from dust, humidity, and extreme temperature. The Leica CS25 tablet computer can be used as a hand-carried tablet, or mounted on a tripod or pole for data collection.

The Leica CS25 includes a 64GB solid state hard drive, eliminating internal moving parts and providing protection against stress from bumps, drops, shock, and vibration. Other features of the Leica CS25 include a low-power consumption Intel® Atom™ 1.6GHz processor with 2 GB RAM, integrated Wi-Fi and 3G modem, Bluetooth®, GPS, and a digital camera.

The Leica CS25 has a 7” widescreen resolution TFT LCD touchscreen display that is perfectly readable in sunlight, and is equipped with two hot-swappable Lithium-Polymer batteries (each 5.2 Ah) to maximize field time. The Windows® 7 Ultimate operating system, the high-accuracy Leica GG02 plus GNSS/GIS SmartAntenna, and this rugged tablet clearly demonstrate the versatility of this all-in-one rugged tablet computer solution for any field task. The Leica CS25 weighs only 1.3 kg with all-day-batteries. It provides instant access to the Internet via the integrated 3G modem.

The CS25 is a true work horse for every mobile GIS worker. And now, workers can carry their office wherever they work. By simply installing the Zeno Field and Zeno Office on the CS25 they can directly update the office database while in the field.

Most advanced GIS Mapping Rover
The combination of Leica CS25 and the Leica GG02 plus – a cm accurate GNSS SmartAntenna – delivers a tool for high-accuracy data collection never seen before. The rover setup includes a dual-frequency GPS and GLONASS SmartAntenna with centimeter accuracy, a rugged 7’’ tablet, all-day—batteries able to work in extreme temperatures. With the in-built 3G modem, simplest GNSS RTK connections can be established to Networked reference Station services with just one click. All designed to meet the demanding requirements of the GIS data collection market.

New Versions of Zeno Field v2.1, Zeno Connect v1.1 and Zeno Office v2.1
The existing Zeno Field, Zeno Office, Zeno Connect and MobileMatriX applications are updated to support the new flagship of the Leica Zeno GIS Rovers.

Availability
Shipping of the new Leica CS25 will start end of July.
