Industry’s only complete solution for making LiDAR data immediately actionable premiered at DistribuTECH
HAMILTON, ONTARIO – January 31, 2012 – GeoDigital, the world leader in LiDAR and imaging technology, demonstrated its combined Grid^Intel Online (GIO) and WorkStudio solution last week during DistribuTECH at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
The GIO to WorkStudio process represents the industry’s first complete, end-to-end solution to the North American Electric Reliability (NERC) vegetation and engineering compliance requirements.
With the GeoDigital web-based work management tool, LiDAR survey data is quickly manipulated into logical, documented work plans that can be shared across utility departments. Foresters and engineers can readily identify vegetative threats, encroachments and maintenance issues, and recommend appropriate actions and priorities for rapid ROI. Crews and contractors receive detailed information about exactly the work that needs to be performed. All data captured throughout the work process can be quickly organized into NERC-compliant reporting formats.
“By making LiDAR information immediately actionable, utilities can manage risk, avoid potential compliance issues and optimize budget,” said GeoDigital International President and CEO, Alastair Jenkins. “Utilities have asked for this type of capability for years, which is what lead to GeoDigital’s interest in WorkStudio and acquisition of Powel, Inc. in December 2011.”
The new offering, combined with GeoDigital’s innovative LiDAR technology and analysis processes, offers an affordable LiDAR mapping program that integrates low cost periodic re-mapping and inspection of the structures and right-of-way.
GeoDigital Solutions President Scott Rogers, agrees that the convergence ultimately led to the launch of a new solution. “Combining GeoDigital’s data acquisition technology and web-delivery with WorkStudio’s work management technology provides a turnkey solution for utilities to manage the maintenance of both their physical assets and their rights of way. It provides utilities all of the technology and all of the functionality that they need to meet the regulatory demands that they are facing today.”
