Real-time data for social media and mobile applications is placing an ever increasing demand for memory bandwidth at data centers. Next-generation data centers have an onerous burden of satisfying this demand without exploding the power profile. Memory components based on DDR4 specifications from JEDEC seek to effectively address this challenge. Inphi's iDDR4RCD-GS02 register achieves this goal by providing "best-in-class" power and performance characteristics for Registered DIMM (RDIMM), the most widely used memory module in enterprise and IP data centers. Inphi's new register reduces cost of ownership for enterprise and IP data centers by lowering powering and cooling requirements of the memory infrastructure. The iDDR4RCD-GS02 allows system designers to customize performance and power profile across a wider range of operating frequencies as compared to DDR3.
"Industry experts anticipate widespread transition to DDR4 memory in 2014. Our goal with an early introduction of the new memory register is twofold: enable our ecosystem partners to drive a technology transition and to ensure that the products they offer provide world-class performance and power efficiencies," said Paul Washkewicz, vice president of Marketing, Computing and Storage at Inphi. "Modern computing and mobile technology depends on enterprise platforms with the memory density and performance required to deliver highest quality end-user experience. Inphi is committed to making its contribution to achieve this goal."
