July 14, 2014 - - Simpleware is pleased to announce the continued development of a human body computer models service, which is being part-funded by the Plymouth and South West City Deal Partners' GAIN Growth Fund+ programme, through HM Government's Regional Growth Fund initiative. This grant follows on from previous Plymouth University and Western Morning Growth Fund (PWGF) support, and will allow Simpleware to hire four new staff to work on the service.
Simpleware provides industry-leading solutions for converting 3D image data (taken from MRI, CT, micro-CT…) into computational models suitable for a range of simulation and design packages. The software is used by researchers within industries such as the Life Sciences, Materials Science, and Industrial Inspection. The human body models service has grown out of the success of the software, and fills a market gap for simulation-ready models produced from scan data.
The service is based around a library of user-definable human body models created from MRI and CT data using Simpleware’s proprietary software. Models generated by users can be used for an extensive range of physics-based simulations. Example applications include the simulation of how the body responds to impact, how it interacts with consumer products, and how it reacts to electromagnetic fields. The commercial potential for easy-to-use but complex human body models is significant, and industry demand has already been strong.
The funding will enable Simpleware to strengthen its current growth plans as part of a year where progress has been made in expanding market presence in China, South East Asia, and the United States. Simpleware Inc. was also formed earlier in 2014 to help coordinate U.S. sales. Philippe Young, Managing Director and CEO of Simpleware, commented on the grant: ‘we are delighted with the continued support for what promises to be an important part of our future business.’

About the GAIN Growth Fund+
Following the successful bidding to BIS by the Plymouth and South West City Deal Partners, another tranche of grant money has been secured to assist businesses across the South West to grow and create new jobs for the people of our Region. Above all, GAIN Growth Fund+ (GGF+) is about creating jobs. This new Fund follows the successful PWGF1 and PWGF2, which made over 60 awards profiling to create over 500 new jobs by March 2015. GGF+ will operate in much the same way and will enable small, medium-sized and larger businesses who can credibly demonstrate how investment will lead to rapid job creation, to get hold of the investment they need.
