Feb 3, 2015 -- EuroGeographics has signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with The Netherlands' Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency (Kadaster) to provide a secretariat for UN-GGIM: Europe.

As a result geospatial professional, Carol Agius has been appointed Administrator for the European regional committee of the United Nations Initiative on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM). In addition to ensuring that relevant organisations in the European UN Member States and European Institutions are well informed about its activities, she will also be responsible for organising the annual plenary as well as Executive Committee and Working Group Meetings. 

Carol, who is from Malta, has extensive experience of leading multi-national expert groups having been Chair of EuroGeographics’ Quality Knowledge Exchange Network for seven years.  She was a key organiser of the recent International Workshop on Spatial Data and Map Quality, has post-graduate degrees in both GIS and Strategic Quality Management and is also a Chartered Geographer with more than 20 years’ involvement in the geospatial community.

President of EuroGeographics, Ingrid Vanden Berghe, commented: “EuroGeographics has a long history of bringing organisations together to participate in policy developments, share knowledge and collaborate to find solutions to common challenges. The Netherlands is responsible for providing a secretariat to UN-GGIM: Europe. This work will be carried out by EuroGeographics, the membership association for the European National Mapping, Land Registry and Cadastral Authorities.
