ITRI shaping Taiwan CNC industry with MachineWorks Software

SHEFFIELD - March 2, 2015 - MachineWorks Ltd, leading provider of CNC simulation and verification component software has been working together with the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan (ITRI), developing software that is shaping the CNC machining landscape of Taiwan.

The CNC machining industry in Taiwan has evolved to become one of the most innovative in the world supplying advanced manufacturing equipment globally to a range of industries from aerospace to oil.

ITRI is leading the way in this sophisticated market by being the research ground for the development of high precision machining, multi-axis CNC controllers, multi-axis universal heads and optimised software. Their goal is to increase the overall competitiveness of machine tools industry.

The integration of MachineWorks Simulation and Verification Technology into ITRI’s  own CNC controllers, has enabled the Research Centre not only to create real-time simulation online but to develop an anti-crash system.

The benefits of this tight collaboration between MachineWorks and ITRI have been extended to other machine tool manufacturers in Taiwan who are now able to provide simulation on their own CNC controllers and are working to create collision avoidance systems. Vision Wide, YCM, Quaser, Dahlih, YIDA and Feeler are among the manufacturers that are collaborating with ITRI’s cutting edge technology.

"Embedding MachineWorks Software within their applications allows machine tools to simulate any type of CNC machining and detect any crash or gouge in the full machining environment in real time," says Mike Nicholson, Sales & Marketing Director at MachineWorks ," by doing that, the machine operators can find any programming errors before any machining takes place and they can monitor the cycles throughout the actual machining."

The Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) will be bringing many of these machine tool builders together in Taipei between the 3rd and the 8th of March.  ITRI will be displaying their latest technological advances at the Nangang Exhibition Hall in booth  N0620. The MachineWorks team will be busy supporting their customers during TIMTOS 2015.

About Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan
Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is a non-profit R&D organization engaging in applied research and technical services. Founded in 1973, ITRI has played a vital role in transforming Taiwan’s economy from a labour-intensive industry to a high-tech industry. Numerous well-known, high-tech companies in Taiwan, such as leaders in the semiconductor industry TSMC and UMC, can trace their origins to ITRI.
