Adobe Launches Comp CC, Bringing Powerful Layout-Design Capabilities to iPad

Design Work Can Now Begin on Mobile Devices and Be Perfected With Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC and InDesign CC

SAN JOSE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 30, 2015 — Adobe (Nasdaq: ADBE) today announced the availability of Adobe Comp CC, a free iPad app that enables the rapid creation of layout concepts for mobile, Web and print projects. With Comp CC, designers can start layout-design projects on iPad, creating concepts that incorporate previously created assets and then easily move to the desktop where essential Adobe Creative Cloud tools, including Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC and InDesign CC, can be used to create production-quality work.

Comp CC extends the mobile and desktop workflows enabled by Creative Profile and Creative Cloud Libraries. Creative Cloud Libraries consist of design assets — such as images, colors, text styles, brushes and more — that members have created with Creative Cloud tools. And a member’s Creative Profile surfaces their libraries, as they move from app-to-app and desktop-to-device, in the right context — enabling members to effortlessly work across devices and apps. Thanks to their Creative Profile and associated Creative Cloud Libraries, Comp CC lets designers quickly combine the Typekit fonts, relevant images, color swatches and shapes they need to jump-start layout-design projects on iPad and later continue their work in CC desktop tools.

First previewed as a sneak at Adobe MAX, the Creativity Conference, in October 2014 under the name “Project LayUp,” Comp CC is a robust, powerful composition app built on the Adobe Creative SDK, allowing designers to use simple iPad gestures to quickly produce high-fidelity layouts. Comp CC joins Adobe’s family of connected Creative Cloud mobile apps, including Illustrator Draw, Illustrator Line, Photoshop Sketch, Adobe Shape CC and Adobe Color CC.

Scott Belsky, vice-president, products at Adobe
“Doing creative work on a mobile device is only useful if the results can be synced to the desktop, where the project can be perfected in a precise, professional-grade tool like InDesign or Photoshop. With Comp CC we’ve simplified the design process, helping creatives take their initial layout-designs on iPad and make them the basis of high-impact finished work on the desktop – all thanks to Creative Cloud.”

Khoi Vinh, former design director of the New York Times and named one of Fast Company’s 50 most influential designers in America in 2011
“When Adobe first approached me about ideas for a new design app, I talked to them about the untapped potential of the iPad for graphic and digital designers. I saw an opportunity for a product that could make the creative process much richer and more immediate – while still being complementary to designers’ existing workflows. Our collaboration on Adobe CC has been amazing; the company’s deep expertise in creative software plus the comprehensive power of their Creative Cloud platform were essential to this product – only Adobe could have brought Comp CC to life.”

About Creative Cloud

With approximately 4 million paid members, Creative Cloud features the world’s leading creative desktop apps, a growing family of mobile apps that are seamlessly integrated with the desktop apps and creative assets, expert training, and access to a dynamic creative community where creatives can discover inspiration and opportunity.

At the heart of Creative Cloud is a Creative Profile, the member’s creative identity. The Creative Profile connects users to their Creative Cloud Libraries — assets such as photos, colors, brushes, shapes, fonts, text styles and graphics. With a Creative Profile, this library is always at the designer’s fingertips because their Creative Profile moves with them, across apps and across devices.

Creative Cloud is transforming how creatives find inspiration and produce their best work — and the value of Creative Cloud is increasing all the time through product updates and new capabilities. A major update to Creative Cloud is expected in the coming months that will introduce new ways for creatives to connect their creativity across mobile and desktop, accelerate their productivity, and work more efficiently.

For Everyone from Individuals to Enterprises

Like the full family of Creative Cloud mobile apps, Adobe Comp CC supports usage on an individual basis or as part of a creative team in an enterprise with support for Federated ID with SSO.
