Runtime Design Automation Delivers Storage-aware Scheduling on Network Computer Workload Management Solution for Greater Throughput and Increased Reliability

SAN FRANCISCO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 9, 2015Design Automation Conference -- Runtime Design Automation (RTDA), a leading provider of infrastructure and design optimization software solutions, will work with NetApp to a deliver storage-aware scheduling on network compute workload management solution. The relationship with NetApp will help support appliance-aware scheduling on RTDA’s NetworkComputer workload manager using NetApp® FAS series storage array systems featuring the NetApp Data ONTAP® operating system.

RTDA’s add-on storage array optimization software leverages NetApp Data ONTAP APIs to provide NetworkComputer with greater real-time visibility into the state, bandwidth, and loading of the storage array system. This added information allows NetworkComputer to maximize throughput by intelligently adjusting job submission rates to accommodate the available bandwidth of the storage array. Automating the method that end users or system administrators use to tune their workload management system eliminates manual tuning and increases the robustness and reliability of the job submission system.

"Given the increased adoption of storage array systems such as the NetApp FAS solutions, users are finding it essential to optimize job submission and scheduling to achieve the best bandwidth utilization that a storage array can sustain,” said Dr. Andrea Casotto, CEO, CTO, and founder of Runtime. “Our storage array optimization software combined with NetApp clustered Data ONTAP provides NetworkComputer’s resource-aware scheduler with real-time visibility into the state and bandwidth of filers, allowing it to automatically regulate job submission rate to maximize throughput while greatly increasing reliability.”

Runtime’s storage-aware scheduling solution is planned for general availability in the first half of 2016. Runtime Design Automation is exhibiting at the 2015 Design Automation Conference ( DAC) at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from June 8–10, 2015, in booth #1227.
