Data Visualization, Enterprise Resiliency Lead ArcGIS 10.4 Rollout

REDLANDS, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 18, 2016 — The release of ArcGIS 10.4 marks improvements in data visualization, spatial analysis, and stronger support for on-premises implementations.

"This release of ArcGIS is pushing mapping and analytics in new, exciting directions," says Jack Dangermond, Esri founder and president. "It will help people build smarter cities, improve business insights, and engage citizens and customers alike."

Esri notes the following advancements in ArcGIS 10.4:

Vector tile maps you can create and share: Vector tiles download quickly to optimize display performance on any device. They add striking clarity and quality to maps, especially on high-resolution displays, and are easy to style and update.

3D local scenes: Take a slice of a specific geography—one that combines elevation, imagery, and 3D symbology for buildings, trees, and more. Interactive local views are ideal for small areas, such as a college campus, and for scientific visualizations.

ArcGIS Earth: Visualize 2D and 3D data on a globe with this new, evolving app. ArcGIS Earth is fully integrated with ArcGIS—on-premises and in the cloud—for securely accessing, sharing, and publishing enterprise maps and data.

Self-service analysis tools: With just a few clicks, perform sophisticated analytical functions for summarizing data, finding locations, analyzing patterns and proximity, and managing data. These tools are now available for on-premises implementations via Portal for ArcGIS.

Enterprise resiliency: A simplified high-availability (HA) configuration supports continuous operations and system performance during peak load periods. A new tool, called webgisdr, backs up and restores web GIS deployments including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS for Server, and ArcGIS Data Store.

New and improved apps: Customers looking to gain efficiencies in the field and office will enjoy
