ROSSETTI’s David Richards Elevated to AIA College of Fellows

Detroit, MI – March 9, 2016: David Richards, FAIA, COO, and Principal at ROSSETTI has been elevated to the College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for his Practice Management expertise. Richards is the third principal at the firm to receive this honor.

The 2016 Fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the 2016 National AIA Convention and Design Exposition in Philadelphia this May.

Of the 80,000 AIA members, there are fewer than 2,700 distinguished with the honor of fellowship and honorary fellowship. The honor is awarded to members who have made significant contributions to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession, both individually and on a national level.

With more than three decades of experience at ROSSETTI, Richards manages the firm’s most complex, large scale projects such as USTA National Tennis Center, Daytona International Speedway, and Michigan State University’s Breslin Center renovation. His ability to combine technical and management skills has resulted in countless innovative solutions both in facility design and in methodology and process. For example, Richards was part of the design team that unlocked the puzzle of installing a retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium at the US Open.

Richards shares his extensive knowledge about architectural practice and management to others in the field to help their firms be profitable and successful. He is the 2016 Chair of the Practice Management Knowledge Community and has been Chair of the AIA Best Practices Committee for the past 4 years. The Practice Management Knowledge Community’s mission is to discover, generate, organize, and share insights, resources, and tools that enable architects to practice more effectively.
