ALLPLAN adopts Swiss solution for road construction and route mapping in its product portfolio

CADICS is a BIM solution for road construction focused on route mapping

Strengthening ALLPLAN’s solution portfolio in engineering

Munich, 16 March 2017 – ALLPLAN, European provider of solutions for Building Information Modeling (BIM), has acquired the rights to the CADICS software of Swiss ICS Computer Service. With this, the company is strengthening its solution portfolio in engineering. CADICS supports project planning of demanding road construction and route mapping projects with digital site dataCADICS is already integrated in the Allplan Engineering software and will be supplied as Allplan Highway in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Romania.

“Allplan Highway is a perfect addition to ALLPLAN’s solution portfolio and strengthens our market-leading position in the field of engineering software,” says Richard Brotherton, managing director of ALLPLAN GmbH.

As a planning tool with extensive CAD functionalities Allplan Highway contains powerful tools for route selection and site modeling. It has been designed specifically for route planning specifications. Based on digital site models, it enables precise road planning by inserting routes dynamically into an environment, creating renderings, calculating volumes, generating surveying and production data and also producing 2D plans. Via seamless integration in Allplan Engineering the entire functional scope of the CAD solution is available for engineers and enables smooth planning process for infrastructure constructions.

BIM in infrastructure planning

The software supports the BIM working method and is, therefore, a key tool in BIM-based infrastructure planning. On the basis of numerous BIM initiatives and government regulations the digital planning method plays an increasingly important role in infrastructure planning.

Allplan Engineering is directly linked to the cloud-based BIM platform bim+ for efficient project management. This means that all involved planning partners work on a common database, the BIM coordination model – and have access to the same planning status at all times. This leads to a number of benefits: discrepancies and planning errors are identified in the planning stage and can be eliminated immediately. This increases the planning quality which pays off in the later construction process.
