54th Design Automation Conference Announces Preliminary Attendance Numbers

Thousands of well-qualified attendees take advantage of expanded technical program, exhibits ecosystem

LOUISVILLE, Colo. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 5, 2017 — The 54th Design Automation Conference (DAC), the premier event devoted to the design and automation of electronic systems, attracted thousands of attendees from all over the world at the Austin Convention Center in Texas. All leading companies in the EDA, IP and IoT spaces, as well as major foundries, participated on the exhibit floor, in the technical program, and in DAC’s Monday tutorial sessions.

“We are very pleased with the interest the expanded topics brought to the technical program,” said Michael “Mac” McNamara, General Chair of the 54th DAC. “The machine learning tutorial on Monday was standing-room only, as was the AI panel session at the Pavilion and many other sessions. I was also thrilled with the world-class keynotes and our focus on IoT, which clearly caught the interest of the community. I sincerely thank sponsors, volunteers, exhibitors, and technical contributors for making this all come together so well. With your help and involvement, DAC continues to have the most compelling program the design automation ecosystem, $6B business with a vibrant academic backing.”

DAC 2017 was held in the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas, from Sunday June 18 to Thursday June 22 and offered attendees outstanding training, education, exhibits and networking opportunities. In addition, DAC 2017 included several fun activities for attendees to enjoy on the exhibit floor: the World of IoT exhibit hosted the Hardware Design Contest finalist highlighting their designs, a virtual reality experience and tech puzzles; the daily DAC Pavilion tear-down sessions and the location of the Designer/ IP Poster sessions, all brought excitement to the show floor and drove attendance to the exhibits.

“The quality of meetings we had over three days was outstanding,” said Ranjit Adhikary, Vice President Marketing at ClioSoft. “Being in Austin for the second time gave us an opportunity to reach out to design companies based in Texas as well key people from all over the world.”

About DAC

The Design Automation Conference (DAC) is recognized as the premier event for the design of electronic circuits and systems, and for electronic design automation (EDA) and silicon solutions. A diverse worldwide community representing more than 1,000 organizations attends each year, represented by system designers and architects, logic and circuit designers, validation engineers, CAD managers, senior managers and executives to researchers and academicians from leading universities. Close to 60 technical sessions selected by a committee of electronic design experts offer information on recent developments and trends, management practices and new products, methodologies and technologies. A highlight of DAC is its exhibition and suite area with approximately 200 of the leading and emerging EDA, silicon, intellectual property (IP) and design services providers. The conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Electronic Systems Design Alliance (ESDA), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and is supported by ACM's Special Interest Group on Design Automation (ACM SIGDA).
